Instructions
In a mixing bowl, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, red pepper flakes (if using), garlic, and ginger. Stir well until the sugar dissolves.
Heat a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat and add cooking oil.
Add the ground beef and cook for 5-7 minutes, breaking it up into small crumbles, until browned.
Drain excess fat if needed, then reduce heat to medium and pour in the prepared marinade.
Stir to coat the beef evenly and let simmer for 3-5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
Add chopped onion and optional ingredients like carrots or mushrooms. Cook for another 3-4 minutes.
Remove from heat and garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds.
Serve hot over rice or in lettuce wraps with kimchi on the side.
Notes
For extra flavor, let the beef sit in the marinade for 15-20 minutes before cooking. Adjust sweetness and spice levels to taste.
