  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tbsp olive oil for grilling or cooking
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper optional, to taste
  • 4 whole-wheat low-sodium buns or lettuce wraps as a low-carb option

Instructions
 

  • In a mixing bowl, combine lean ground beef (or turkey), garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper. Mix gently until just combined.
  • Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and form into patties about ½ inch thick.
  • Preheat a grill or pan over medium heat. Lightly brush with olive oil to prevent sticking.
  • Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes per side or until fully cooked (internal temperature of 160°F for beef, 165°F for turkey).
  • Assemble the burgers: Place the cooked patties on the whole-wheat buns (or lettuce wraps). Add lettuce, cucumber slices, and a small amount of low-sodium mustard if desired.
