Equipment

  • Mixing Bowls
  • Digital Kitchen Scale
  • Stand or Hand Mixer
  • Baking Sheet
  • Parchment Paper or Silicone Baking Mat
  • Wire Cooling Rack

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 250 g all-purpose flour
  • 5 g baking soda about 1 teaspoon
  • 3 g salt about ½ teaspoon
  • 170 g unsalted butter softened
  • 150 g granulated sugar
  • 160 g light brown sugar packed
  • 5 ml vanilla extract about 1 teaspoon
  • 2 large eggs approximately 100g without shells
  • 300 g semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 175°C (350°F) and line baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone mats.
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  • In another large bowl, use a stand or hand mixer to cream the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy (about 2-3 minutes).
  • Mix in the vanilla extract, then add the eggs one at a time, mixing until fully incorporated.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  • Gently fold in the chocolate chips using a spatula.
  • Cover the dough and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to prevent excessive spreading during baking.
  • Use a cookie scoop to portion the dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 5 cm (2 inches) apart.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown while the centers remain slightly underbaked.
  • Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire cooling rack.

Notes

For chewier cookies, increase the ratio of brown sugar to granulated sugar. Chilling the dough overnight enhances the flavor. To make a gluten-free version, use a gluten-free all-purpose flour blend.
