🔥 Cook Time: 15 minutes
⏳ Prep Time: 10 minutes
🍔 Servings: 4 burgers
Ingredients
For the Wagyu Burger Patties:
✔ 1 lb Wagyu ground beef (preferably American Wagyu)
✔ 1 tsp sea salt
✔ ½ tsp freshly ground black pepper
✔ 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce (optional, for depth of flavor)
✔ 1 tbsp unsalted butter (for cooking, if pan-frying)
For the Burger Toppings:
✔ 4 brioche buns (buttered & toasted)
✔ 4 slices cheddar, Gruyère, or blue cheese (your choice!)
✔ 1 large onion, sliced (for caramelized onions)
✔ 1 tbsp olive oil (for caramelizing onions)
✔ 1 ripe tomato, sliced
✔ 4 lettuce leaves (butter lettuce or romaine works best)
✔ 1 tbsp Dijon mustard or chipotle mayo (optional, for extra flavor)
Instructions
1️⃣ Gently form the patties – Divide Wagyu ground beef into four equal portions and shape them into ¾-inch thick patties. Don’t overwork the meat—Wagyu is delicate!
2️⃣ Season lightly – Sprinkle each patty with sea salt, black pepper, and Worcestershire sauce (if using).
3️⃣ Make an indentation – Press a small dimple into the center of each patty to help them cook evenly.
🔥 Grill Method:
1️⃣ Preheat your grill to medium-high heat (375–400°F / 190–204°C).
2️⃣ Lightly grease the grill grates and place the patties directly on the grill.
3️⃣ Cook for 3–4 minutes per side for medium-rare (130–135°F / 54–57°C) or longer for medium (140–145°F / 60–63°C).
4️⃣ In the last minute of cooking, top each patty with cheese and close the grill lid to let it melt.
🔥 Pan-Fry Method (For Indoor Cooking):
1️⃣ Heat a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat and add 1 tbsp butter.
2️⃣ Cook each patty for 3–4 minutes per side, flipping only once.
3️⃣ Add cheese during the final minute of cooking.
1️⃣ Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in a small pan over medium-low heat.
2️⃣ Add sliced onions and cook slowly, stirring occasionally, until deep golden brown (about 10–12 minutes).
3️⃣ Remove from heat and set aside.
1️⃣ Toast the brioche buns in a pan or on the grill for 1–2 minutes.
2️⃣ Spread Dijon mustard or chipotle mayo on the bottom bun.
3️⃣ Layer with lettuce, a Wagyu patty, melted cheese, caramelized onions, and tomato slices.
4️⃣ Place the top bun and serve immediately!
🥔 Pair with: Truffle fries, sweet potato wedges, or a fresh arugula salad.
🍷 Drink pairing: A full-bodied red wine (Cabernet Sauvignon or Malbec) or a craft IPA.
✔ Do NOT overwork the meat – Keep handling minimal for a tender, juicy burger.
✔ Never press down on the patty – This squeezes out all the flavorful juices.
✔ Use a thermometer – Medium-rare (130–135°F) is best for Wagyu!
